About us
We Are Mark and Tanja – From the Netherlands to Thuringia
For as long as we’ve known each other (and that’s a long time!), we’ve been talking about it: one day we’ll move abroad. Over the years we had vague ideas and concrete plans, but there was always a reason not to take the step. Until our employer eventually sold the company. That was the perfect moment to take our dream out of the drawer and decide what we really wanted: should we open a guesthouse or hotel? Or would holiday apartments suit us better?
One thing was clear – our destination would be Thuringia! The stunning nature, the peace and quiet, the friendly people, and the feeling of stepping back in time have captured our hearts again and again.
When we first viewed this house, we knew instantly: this was it! The interior was in terrible shape, with smoke-blackened walls, but we immediately fell in love. Almost no wall was left standing and everything that could be renewed was replaced. Now it has become a wonderful place where we truly feel at home.
From here, we can walk straight into the Thuringian Forest, take a motorcycle tour, or enjoy the local culture. For us, every day here is a joy – and we’d love for you to enjoy it with us!
